Squash Auckland appoints John Fletcher as General Manager
Squash Auckland has appointed John Fletcher as General Manager. He will take up the role full time on Tuesday 7 June and will be available in a part time capacity in May.
John has been Squash Waikato General Manager since January this year. Before that he was Royal Oak Racquets Club Manager for nearly five years where he won Squash Auckland Club Administrator of the Year 2014 and helped Royal Oak Racquets win Squash Auckland Club of the Year 2014.
At Royal Oak John also played a major role in helping the club win two Tennis Auckland awards for club administration and club marketing and promotion in 2014 and a further two Tennis Auckland awards for club events and club facilities in 2015.
John holds a Bachelor of Business Studies degree from Massey University and is a B1 squash player competing in local and national tournaments.
Squash Auckland Chairman Tim Marshall said John brings to the role award-winning club management expertise, a passion for squash, and a taste of regional sports management experience at Squash Waikato. “We’re delighted John has accepted the role and, in his own words, he is looking forward to ‘getting stuck in’.”
John replaces Philip Vodanovich who has been General Manager since January 2011 and is now moving back to the corporate world, taking a management role with Dulux.
“Philip leaves Squash Auckland in great shape,” says Tim Marshall. “He has built up our KiwiSport funding and programmes to unprecedented levels, strengthened our coaching network, established a partnership with College Sport and grown player numbers by more than 20 per cent to around 5,000.”
