The 2016 Squash Auckland Awards were held on Saturday 5th November at the Herne Bay Ponsonby Rackets Club. A full house of well over 100 players & supporters were on hand to celebrate a successful season for squash in Auckland as we recognised the interclub pennant winners, Superchamps winners, our National Champions and awarded the 2016 Squash Excellence Awards.
Well-known squash personality Phil Buscke Somervell was on hand to MC the evening and kept the crowd engaged and entertained throughout the night. A huge congratulations to all the 2016 Squash Excellence Awards winners, who were;
• Most Improved Junior Boy – Tarin Love (Eden Epsom)
• Most Improved Junior Girl – Natalie Sayes (Remuera)
• Most Improved Male – Corby Price (Remuera)
• Most Improved Female – Naomi Fellows (Royal Oak)
• Referee of the Year – Terry Manuatu (Manurewa)
• Coach of the Year – Jarrod van Driel (Browns Bay)
• Master of the Year – Gary Duberly (North Shore)
• Administrator of the Year – Graeme Norman (Belmont Park)
• Personality of the Year – Lou Patroni (Kumeu)
• Team of the Year – Browns Bay F/J Grade Superchamps Team
• Volunteer of the Year – Joanna Smales (Henderson)
• Young Sportsman of the Year (U21) – Matthew Lucente (Belmont Park)
• Young Sportswoman of the Year (U21) – Natalie Sayes (Remuera)
• Sportsman of the Year – Sam Sayes (Remuera)
• Sportswomen of the Year – Ellie Epke (Remuera)
• Club of the Year – Royal Oak

The Club of the Year, Coach of the Year and Referee of the Year winners have been forwarded as Squash Auckland's nominees for the Squash NZ National Awards. The finalists for those awards will be announced on Monday 21st November.
